New Tricks is my favourite detective show on TV. Not only is it funny, but the plots are clever, and the twists sensational. Due to its popularity (with a 38.5% share on its highest rated episode), it’s back on TV with a new series, which has been running for three weeks now. The story takes up the Trial of Ricky Hanson, who murdered the wife of Jack Halford many years previously. Now, due to Hanson’s verdict being returned as Innocent, Jack has gone AWOL. However, work goes on, and the team has other cases to solve, including the murder of an actor by his wife on stage and the death of a radio DJ. It’s great to see some really funny, clever British Drama, especially from the BBC. It’s reassuring to know that the tax payers’ money is going into producing some worthwhile work.
